Customised quarterly title max*d was conceived as a 'co-driver' to Isuzu's D*MAX. When the two launched simultaneously into a market jammed with well-established models, max*d proved a powerful content channel, tapping into D*MAX owners' passions and driving brand loyalty. max*d so impressed the client and target market that a bigger max*d' is in production.
Edge is always on the lookout for new clients to assist, and max*d is a great example of how that process works. Launching a new car model is always a difficult process, but in Isuzu's case, the new D-MAX was going head-to-head with some well-established models with great brand loyalty.
So when Edge approached Isuzu UTE Australia with the idea of launching a new magazine alongside its new model, senior management was all ears. The idea was simple: max*d would provide a way for owners to share their D-MAX experiences with like-minded individuals. Full of how-to information, overseas and local travel stories, recipes, colourful characters and more, max*d is a magazine like no other.
Each quarter, readers are updated with the latest news from the factory, the off-road racing scene and reviews of products that complement the outdoor lifestyle. But the magazine provides more than that – it’s a powerful touchstone for men and women who live with their utes day in, day out.
Viewed from that perspective, max*d is much more than just a magazine – it’s a part of the whole D-MAX experience, and one that its readers clearly don’t want to be without.

Behind the wheel
The driving force behind max*d is its editor, Ian Neubauer. Ian is an industry veteran with experience in print, electronic and broadcast media. An expert on off-road driving and wilderness expeditions, Ian’s travels inform every issue of the magazine. In addition to his considerable experience, Ian gives max*d a language, a range and an attitude that speaks directly to its readers.
